Ocean Odyssey is finishing up the last few weeks of field trips for San Diego City Schools. We will be installing satellite television, so for you die hard sports fans, the game will be on.

Captain's Rick and Dina are gearing up for the Fred Hall Fishing and Tackle show in Long Beach. They will be there all 5 days to book your charters or discuss the boat and fishing. Stop by, grab a schedule, buy a T-shirt or a DVD, or just say 'hi'.

We are working on the schedule for next year and should have it posted up in the next few weeks. If there are any trips that you would like to see more of, let me know. We are scheduling 1 day-3.5 dayers so there is a good variety. This schedule will be up on the schedule page soon.
Also, if you are interested in a whole boat charter, now is the time to get your date. I will not be requesting deposits until February, so it doesn't hurt to book your date and see if your group is interested.

Whew! It's August already and I haven't updated this front page in a year? Where has the time gone? We have been busy to say the least. Between repowering our propulsion and keeping up the boat we have rolled right into fishing season without a break to breathe and regroup. But we aren't complaining, being busy keeps everyone with Ocean Odyssey happy.
With that said, Ocean Odyssey is doing what she was built to do, she is out fishing. We have many trips still available with space on them if you want to jump on a trip, just go to our schedule page and sign up right there.
As far as whole boat charters go, we have received many calls and emails in the past few weeks for whole boat charters. There are still some available dates in September mid week, and October is wide open. Don't forget that we had good fishing all the way through Halloween last year, so don't frown on October fishing, it was the best fall fishing we had seen in years. So much fun!

To reiterate and clarify the post below. It has been recomended not required by the Sportfishing Association of California (SAC) that all passengers and crew carry passports on voyages into Mexico. If you do not have a passport and you plan to fish in Mexico in the future, it would be best to start the application process. This issue has been put off for a very long time, so it was just a matter of time. The Mexican Officials that have been boarding and inspecting fishing vessels out of San Diego have randomly requested passports even if the vessel is not making port in Mexico. SAC is working feverously to resolve this issue and get some written guidelines in place. If you are calling the Ocean Odyssey office to get answers regarding this issue, the above is all I can offer until more information is received. All of our trips are still running as scheduled.

With that being said, the Ocean Odyssey is out on a one day trip with Ronnie Kovach Fishing Expeditions. The weather is up a little so they are fishing the Baja coast. Back out again tonight for a 2 day, hopefully the weather lays down for them to get to the fishing grounds.
Thirdly, we have a 3 day charter coming up that is looking for a few more guests. The cost is $660 and departs August 24 returning August 27, if you are interested call Mark Bowman at (626) 222-4790.

Well I would love to say that on July 4th weekend we started off with a bang, but that wasn't the case. The bluefin tuna are being spotted by everyone on the boat, they jump, boil, just don't bite the hook. In the rare instance that they do bite, they are large fish and the angler is not prepared for the pull of the giant tuna. The albacore are a little more reasonable when they are found. Fifteen pounders that are perfect size for catching.
With that being said, Ocean Odyssey will be out for a little bit of a stretch starting on Friday, hopefully covering some water and looking for schools of albacore. I will post how they are doing on our Facebook page, if you are not already a fan, check it out.
There are a few options open in the way of trips starting in August. There are 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 day trips with space available, call Dina to sign up (619) 889-4535.

This trip gets back in Monday morning, just in time for you to BBQ up your fresh catch and watch fireworks with your family. Call the office to get on this one (619) 889-4535!

As usual we have been busy on the Ocean Odyssey. The galley has gotten a lot of attention with replacing some equipment that died over the winter, the house has a fresh coat of paint and the annual Coast Guard inspections have been completed. Now, the fish have started to bite and we are itchin to go catch them! Coming up this week we have two 6 hr whale watching tours that leave at 10 AM on Thursday and Sunday. Bring the entire family for fun filled day of surf, sun, and surprises! Our first whale watching trip was a huge sucess with whales, dolphins and sea lions a plenty. In between the whale trips, there is an Open Party 1.5 day fishing that leaves Friday at 9 PM and returns Sunday morning. The trip is $315 and is ALL inclusive. This means.... Permits, meals & non alc beverages. However, there will be a minor fuel surcharge but it will NEVER exceed $20 per day. End the work week with a fun weekend of great fishing! See you all there! Call (619) 889-4535 for more information or reservations. Or go to the schedule page and book right online.
