ODYSSEY IS ACTIVELY ACCCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SECOND CAPTAIN AND DECK HAND**
Horizon Charters is always seeking good crewmembers.
If you think that you would like to join our team please e-mail or snail mail your resume. Every position on the
Ocean Odyssey requires that you are friendly and courteous and have good social skills. We also recommend that
you have some experience being on a boat and that you don't get seasick. Below are brief descriptions of the positions
that you may apply for and the level of experience required for each. These are not 9-5 positions and you will
be required to work weekends and holidays. You will also be at sea for several days at a time.
Cook-Prepare and serve 3 meals a day (short order and family style)
for 20-40 people Maintain the cleanliness of the galley and dinning area. Cooking experience required
Cook's Assistant-Assist the cook in the preparation of all meals, maintain
the cleanliness of the galley and dining area. Cooking experience recommended.
Deckhand-Assist with the tying and untying of the boat, do routine maintenance,
assist passengers with their equipment, and maintain the overall cleanliness of the vessel. Fishing and scuba diving
experience preferred. Diving certification will be required if you are not already certified.
Second Captain-Assist
the Captain with the navigation of the vessel. 100-ton master's license required, some diesel mechanics experience
required. Fishing and scuba diving experience required.
Captain- In charge of all the positions listed above. 100-ton master's license
required, diesel mechanics experience required. Fishing and scuba diving experience required.
Marine Biology Instructors- We also run the Floating Classroom Monday-Friday during
the school year. These trips are 4 hours in duration and run entirely in San Diego Bay. If you like the outdoors,
working with children and have a background in marine biology this could be the job for you.
